The reed family of pipes is probably the most varied. On the theatre organ, it ranges from the whispering Vox Humana adding colour to quiet string or Tibia combinations, to the strident Tuba Mirabilis or English Horn crowning the ensemble. In between lie a multitude of stops, some of them fine orchestral imitations, others providing harmonic colour to the ensemble, and a few buzzy ones providing musical humour.
