Xylophone

 Xylophone
Xylophone

A series of tuned wooden bars, similar to the marimba but not so ‘liquid” in tone. It gives off a dry wooden tone and is an excellent percussion instrument. In very large American organs there are usually two xylophones, one being placed under expression in one of the organ chambers and the other of larger scale (usually called Master Xylophone) being placed outside the organ, either in the orchestra pit or in balcony-niche outside the organ grille.
