Although well-established as a classical organ stop, this stop became adopted as one of the staples of the theatre-organ. Most frequently used with the Tibia Clausa or with massed string combinations, invariably (it seems) with tremulant. Vox Humana comes from the Latin for  Human Voice, although any resemblance is generally atypical.

Construction:
Metal, one-eighth length capped cylindrical resonators with regulating slide or canister.

Tonality:
Throaty medium-power stop. The best examples, with suitable tremulant, produce a misty 'shushing'.
